What to do if license verification fails

When the app cannot verify your license, it shows a message with a number, for example "Error #16". You can also see the current state in Settings > About > License status. The number is what matters — find it below.

Error #16 — too many devices activated

A license can be active on a limited number of devices. You see this after moving to a new phone, or after a reinstall or a factory reset, because the old device still holds its place.

You do not need to do anything. After some time the system sees that the old device is no longer in use and releases it, and then this device is activated. This usually takes a few days. While you wait, the app keeps working and your calls are still recorded. If the trial period ends before the license starts working, write to me — see Report an issue.

Error #8 — error contacting server

The app could not reach the license server. Check your internet connection, then force stop Call Recorder and open it again. If you use a VPN, a firewall or a private DNS, try without them.

Error #9 — server error

The problem is on the server side. Wait a few minutes, then open the app again.

Error #10 — too many requests from this device

Wait a few hours, then open the app again.

Errors #0 and #17 — no license yet

These are not failures. They mean the app is running as a trial and no license was found for this device.

If you already bought a license, open "Already purchased?" in the menu, or Settings > About > Restore license. It asks where you bought the license and then shows the right way to restore it:

  1. Bought on this site — sign in with the client area account that has the license.
  2. Bought on the Play Store before Sep 3, 2017 — also sign in with the client area account.
  3. Bought on the Play Store after Sep 3, 2017 — install the Unlock app. The Play Store and Google services must be installed on the phone.

If sign in fails, the app shows the reason. "Incorrect email or password" means the account details are wrong. "No connection or server unavailable" means the app could not reach the server — check the internet connection and try again.

Errors #101, #103 and #104 — the Unlock app

The version from this site can also be activated with the Unlock app bought on the Play Store. These numbers mean Call Recorder could not reach the Unlock app, or the Unlock app could not reach the Play Store. Make sure the Unlock app is still installed and open it once — if you hid its icon, use "Open Unlock" in Settings > About. Then force stop Call Recorder and open it again. Battery saving apps can block the connection between them.

Other numbers

Numbers such as #1, #2–#7, #11, #12, #14, #15 and #18 mean the answer about your license could not be read, or did not match this device. Some of them are shown with the text "Unknown error", so only the number is useful. Restart the phone and open the app again. If the same number comes back, report it and include the number.
